The Assistant Priest at St Michael's

Fr Simon MARSH | The Reverend Ann HYDE

The Reverend Ann Hyde

ANN JOINED ST MICHAEL'S TEAM in November 2008 whilst continuing her  theological training at St John's Nottingham. Ann came to us from St Martin's Church, Low Marple, but has also recently spent some time attached to the  Anglican Chaplaincy in Nice. Before being called to ordination Ann was on the Board of Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust, but for most of her career was an editor specialising in medical journals and books. Ann was ordained Deacon by Peter, Lord Bishop of Chester, assisted by Suffragan Bishops Keith and Robert, of Birkenhead and Stockport respectively, in Chester Cathedral on Sunday 5th July 2009, and was ordained Priest nearly a year later on Saturday 19th June 2010.  Photos at Flickr

Ann has had a life-long interest in the visual arts, particularly textiles, and for many years spent a day a week as an artist / teacher at an arts centre in Manchester that helped people to manage mental illness. Ann integrates her interest in the creative arts into her ministry, and attempts to stave off an expanding waistline by walking her dog, a smooth coated griffon called Tassie. Thanks to the pet passport scheme Tassie was able to accompany Ann to Nice – where he even occasionally went to church services!
